The English League’s transfer window came to a close yesterday. English teams now won’t be able to buy anyone before the winter transfer window opens in January, though they can still sell players and sign players on loan and free agents. Let us take a look at the few gossips that made the headlines on the final day of the English summer transfer window.

 

  • Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho believes that Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has been disrupting the club’s environment by offering the French World Cup winning midfielder to Juventus and Barcelona.
  • Alexis Sanchez, who joined Manchester United in the winter transfer window has said that the club could have brought in a few more “world-class players” during this season’s summer transfer window. The 29-year-old Chilean forward was involved in a cash plus player deal that saw United’s Henrick Mkhitariyan moving the other away to the Emirates.
  • Jose Mourinho has been told by Manchester United board that he should stop asking money for signing new players and try to focus on getting the best out of the players he has at his disposal. United board have also asked him to develop the youth players as well.
  • Manchester United had the opportunity to sign England and Leicester City center-back, Harry Maguire for a fee of around £15 million in the last summer transfer window. United had than turned down the offer to sign the 25-year-old English defender.
  • Manchester United’s desperation to sign a defender was so much that they were set to pay £100 million for acquiring the services of Real Madrid’s 25-year-old center-back Raphael Varane
  • A deal that could have taken Manchester United’s Argentine defender Marcus Rojo to Everton collapsed because the Red Devils failed to sign a replacement for the 29-year-old player.
  • Barcelona has an option to buy Yerry Mina back from Everton for a fee of around £53.9 million. There is a buy-back clause in Mina’s deal that took him to Goodison Park.
  • Everton’s loan move for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma is not yet confirmed. The Toffees will have to wait for a few hours to find out whether the move for the 23-year-old French center-back has been successful or not.
  • Emre Can left Anfield to join the Turin based club Juventus as a free agent this summer. Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said that he has no issues with the German midfielder leaving the club for free after deciding to reject a new contract offer. The 24-year-old midfielder was pivotal in Liverpool’s resurgence last season.
  • Tottenham and England left back Danny Rose wants to move to PSG on a loan. The 28-year-old was out of action for most part of the season due to injuries. With him out, Keiran Trippier took the starting role and his performances for Spurs saw him being selected in the England World Cup squad. Tripper was arguably England’s best player in Russia and has made a case of him being selected ahead of Rose.
  • Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has blamed the club’s new stadium and Brexit for the Tottenham’s lack of activity in the summer transfer window.
  • Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon has joined the race to sign Juventus’ Italian forward Stefano Stuaro. Stuaro was expected to join Premier League club Watford, but the deal fell through in between.
  • After receiving a lot of abusive comments in reply, Real Madrid’s new signing from Chelsea, Thibaut Courtois deleted his Facebook post bidding adieu to the Chelsea fans.
  • Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder Jack Grealish has reportedly agreed to sign a new contract that could have a clause allowing the 26-year-old midfielder to leave Villa Park, if Aston Villa fails to win promotion this season.
  • Sean Dyche, manager of the Clarets has said that this transfer window has been the worst he’s ever had.
  • Boro’s £6 million deal for 25-year-old Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic broke down over agents’ fees. Despite of it, Middlesbrough is positive of securing a loan move for the Bosnian player. The Teesside club are also hopeful in signing Yannick Bolasie on a loan move from Goodison Park.
  • Middlesbrough’s bids for midfielders George Saville and Jed Wallace was rejected by Millwall on the transfer deadline day.
