Monday’s session: Top gainers and losers

Equity benchmarks extended the gains for the third consecutive session on Monday after Sensex closed 139 points up at 33,602 and Nifty50 settled 56 points up at 10,389.

Vedanta, Hindalco (BSE 2.70%), Mahindra & Mahindra, Cipla (BSE 2.51%), Sun Pharma (BSE 2.06%), State Bank of India (BSE 1.97%), GAIL (BSE 1.82%) [India] and ICICI Bank (BSE 1.78%) figured among the top gainers of the Nifty50 index on Monday.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra (BSE -1.44%), YES Bank (BSE -1.23%), HCL Technologies (BSE -0.76%), UPL, Coal India (BSE -1.11%) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (BSE -1.30%) closed the day in the negative territory.

Out of 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 35 ended the day in the green, while 14 in the red. One stocks remained unchanged.

Barring Nifty Realty, all other sectoral indices settled in the green on NSE. Indiabulls Real Estate (BSE -2.22%), Brigade Enterprises (BSE 0.02%), Godrej Properties (BSE -0.80%) and Oberoi Realty (BSE -1.25%) dragged the Nifty Realty index down.

With a gain of over 2%, Nifty PSU Bank index remained at the top among sectoral indices on NSE.

Nifty Metal, pharma and auto indices advanced over 1%.

As many as 77 stocks, including Adani Enterprises (BSE 3.07%), Balkrishna Industries (BSE -0.61%), Century Plyboards (BSE -0.89%) [India], GAIL [India], Graphite India (BSE -0.78%) and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (BSE 0.18%) hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Monday.

On the contrary, 55 stocks, including D.B.Corp, Dena Bank (BSE -0.21%), Equitas Holdings and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (BSE 0.20%) hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE.
